More than 30% of households believe that they will likely purchase smart heating equipment, smart lighting and smart security services in the next five years, and the market adoption rate will match or even exceed the most used smart products and services.

Although the smart home market adoption prospects are promising, there are still a number of factors that may affect consumer acceptance. Price is one of the main considerations: less than one-fifth of consumers believe that the price of smart home products is reasonable.

Interestingly, 42% of respondents are ambiguous about smart home pricing, which shows that service providers still have a lot of room to increase their value proposition.

However, consumers are paying more attention to more practical considerations that may limit the attractiveness of new technologies to families. Installing new hardware is already a problem for many homes, not to mention the security and integrity of smart home devices.

  • Smart home supplier ecosystem becomes the focus

As families benefit from an increasingly rich range of smart home products, many service providers are looking to bring more convenience by providing a home smart connected device ecosystem.

These methods are designed to provide a seamless experience for a variety of use cases and increase customer loyalty. The good news for providers is that a large number of families welcome this idea, but one-stop services may not be suitable for all families.

Consumers have different preferences for ideal smart home providers. Importantly, there are currently no particular preferred providers, and broadband providers, utility companies, home appliance manufacturers, and various technology providers are all mentioned. However, the most unpopular providers are obvious, including mobile operators, application development companies and social media platforms.

The opportunities associated with smart homes are diverse, which means that value propositions must be fluid and evolving. In order to ensure that consumer awareness can evolve into action and ultimately achieve customer loyalty, service providers need to be patient.
